It took him 36 games,2,451 minutes to score his first professional goal since moving to Europe three years ago but Rueben Gabriel says he is confident he will score more goals for Boavista.

The highlight of Boavista 4-0 thrashing of Vitoria Setubal was Gabriel’s 52nd minute goal which stabled them before Ze Manuel and Paulo Vinicius rounded up the victory for the 17th placed team.

Gabriel told Owngoalnigeria.com in a chat that he now feels more relaxed and hence focused on scoring more goals for Boavista.

“It took a while for me to score a goal in Europe but I was never under pressure as a matter of fact,it wasn’t even an issue but now that have scored once am targeting more, it’s such a beautiful feeling” He told Owngoalnigeria.com

On the reasons behind his goal drought the 25 year old former Kaduna United,Enyimba and Kano Pillars midfielder said a change of the way he plays caused it.

“When I moved to Europe, my various coaches want me to play just in front of the back four so I was not getting close to our opponent’s goal as oppose to when I was in Nigeria when I played an advanced role”.

He hopes his new found form help him in coming back into international reckoning after been frozen out since the departure of Stephen Keshi as coach.
