The year 2016 might have been 17 days old but to Nigerian forward Simmy Nwankwo it’s enough to score two brace for Gil Vicente.

The 23 year old who scored 9 times for Gil Vicente last season in the top division but couldn’t save them from relegation to the second division scored his second brace of the year in his team 4-1 thumping of Sporting Braga II.

His first brace of the year came on 3rd of January against Farense a game which his both goals gifted his team all three points and so far is way on course to score double digits like he did in 2012/2013 season while at Portimonense when he scored 11.

Simmy’s goals have so far proved vital for his relegated team who are eyeing a return to the top flight and are currently 3rd on the Segunda Liga table behind Chaves and Porto II with Chaves just three points ahead of them in second.

In the summer Gil Vicente reportedly turned down offers for his services from other Portuguese team following their relegation and this winter they might do same to hang on to the man who might profit them more if he helps them regain their top flight status.
